September Message from The Exalted Ruler, Richard Platt
On August 4th, Kris Picard, PER and WCCD Vice President conducted her official visitation of our Lodge. I think things went very well. Our Committee Chairmen and Officers did an excellent job. As was noted, our Lodge Secretary and his better half, put together the different reports into a cohesive story, so that the AVP understood, who we are. The AVP asked probing questions to which our chairmen as well as your Knights answered. Not with their version, but the facts as each knew. All did well, but a few did fabulously.
After the inspection, it was time for the collective mixer. Our fundraiser auction went over very well; your Lodge Officers sold many tickets to our visitors. Then, it was time to eat. Jill Williams, as usual, put together a fantastic crew, who made a wonderful meal, that all enjoyed. We had seventy-two well feed Elks within twenty minutes. Everyone said that the meal was one of the best; I agree completely.
It was Elk’s introductions and followed the devouring of chicken, tri-tip, and baby back ribs, and potato salad. Then the AVP addressed the audience. Kris Picard told us of CHEA President Jay Larkins expectations and views for the larger California Elk programs and was even able to weave a few of our Lodge Chairmen, by name, into her speech. Her speech was well received by all.
Eleven of the dozen Lodges in our District sent representatives. We also had visitors from the Metropolitan District. I look forward to seeing our AVP’s findings, which will be a helpful tool to use for the rest of this year. I want to thank our members, committee chairmen, Lodge officers. kitchen and bar staff, visitors, Kris Picard, her family, Greg Metzgus and Tony Markarian, their families, and David Martin, our DDGER, for their Support, Advise, and Friendship this year.
See you at the BBQ Saturday! Thank you, and if I can be of help, please call me at home (805)380-4101 or email me at rplatt_1998 @ yahoo.com.
