Elks Dictionary Project
On Thursday January 14, 2010 the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge #2477 donated to all the 3rd graders at the El Descanso Elementary School, in Camarillo, a dictionary for their very own. Making the presentation was Richard Goldner, Grand Lodge Public Relations Chairman. This is the Elks way of taking one giant step toward encouraging literacy in children.
In attendance was Pleasant Valley School Superintendent Luis Villegas, Jr. and Elk mascot Elroy handing out drug awareness literature. There were 4 classes in attendance and approximately 200 children attended.
